I love this statement from James Emery White, pastor of Mecklinburg Community Church in Charlotte, North Carolina:
“When you enter ministry, you can’t help but dream. For many of us, we dream big. That’s one of the marks of a leader- a compelling vision for the future. But for almost everyone, it’s not long before the dream collides with reality…You have to live with a level of quality about ten miles below what ignited your dream. It’s work-hard work- and you realize that it could take years for even a glimpse of your dream to become reality.”
How true this statement is. Dreams are great- they’re what get us going in the morning. But you have to put in plenty of work before you even start to see the possibility of a dream fulfilled. One of the most important attributes for a dreamer is perseverance. Don’t give up the dream because it collides with real life. The greatest ministries are the ones that are waiting to be established.
