Why Christian Media Is In Trouble

I just glanced this headline from a free Christian newspaper that comes out monthly here in San Diego-”President Obama declares U.S. not a Christian nation.” For anyone who has just awakened from a fifty year slumber- we haven’t been a Christian nation for a long time. Obama didn’t create a new policy- he just made a statement of fact.

Christian media, whether video or print, often sees the world through a pair of glasses the rest of us don’t get to wear. There is an expectation that what matters to Christians matters to everyone. It’s time to realize that Christians lost the right to speak for America a long time ago. We have to painstakingly regain society’s trust by living as Christ did in a hostile world. The servant’s heart still accomplishes much.

  1. Seems to me, that less than 30 years ago in grad school, we were still saying prayers and having Christmas Programs, and singing songs about the birth of Jesus. So, I don’t think is was 50 years.

  2. Sooooo true! I think its because christians are always answering questions that no one is asking! We need to stop talking and start listening… My wife always tells me that? Perhaps the real problem is that christian leadership is predominantly controlled by men who are notorious for having chronic listening disfunction?
