Generous

My message series for January 11th and 18th is “Generous.” How do you live a generous life in troubled times? When my son has more money in his piggy bank than most people have in their savings accounts the natural inclination is to withdraw and hoard rather than open up and give away.

A good gift is better than a great intention. Giving of what you can is always better than not giving what you wish you could. If you wait for the ideal circumstances for generosity they will never come. Generosity is most pure when it comes inconveniently and unwelcomed. To give in these conditions is to give yourself.

To give wisely is not losing but investing. When you give in ways that better people’s lives its not a loss- its a gain. Whether it be measured in time or dollars- giving can be profitable.

Put a smile on someone’s face…live generously.
